REFUND, E-MAILS AND PRIVACY POLICY STATEMENT

REFUNDS POLICY
WHILE every effort is made to obtain research-based information, material or a specific document(s) from the United Kingdom (excluding Northern Ireland) and Queensland, Australia (where such information, material or document(s) can lawfully and reasonably be expected to be located), in a timely and professional fashion; events and circumstances beyond the knowledge or control of Garrison Communications, or its agents, may cause unforeseen delays or prevent actual delivery of certain information, material or document(s) from time to time.

Research fees will be unconditionally refunded - in consultation with the client - where an event or circumstance, beyond the knowledge or control or Garrison Communications, or its agents, frustrates, or makes impossible the procurement of information, material or documents sought from English and/or Queensland archival repositories, where every reasonable attempt has previously been made by Garrison Communications, or its agents, to obtain same.

PLEASE NOTE: A refund handling fee of $9.00 (incl. GST) will apply on each *pre-paid order* (bank deposit/personal cheque/Australian Money Order payment - but NOT credit card) we receive involving a request for a Birth, Death and Marriage Certificate that is unable to be applied for due to government-imposed privacy restrictions. Purchase conditions are clearly spelt out on the relevant ordering pages of our website.

In accordance with the respective practices of the General Register Office (GRO) in England and the General Register Office of Scotland (GROS), Garrison Communications offers to pass on a part-refund where information supplied by the client is incorrect or insufficient and the GRO/GROS declines to issue any particular Birth, Death or Marriage Certificate.

In the event the GRO/GROS declines to issue a specific document, Garrison Communications shall NOT be held responsible and no correspondence will be entered into.

In all other instances, our general refunds policy shall apply: 'Please choose carefully. We do not normally give refunds if you simply change your mind or make a wrong selection. You can choose between a refund, exchange or credit where goods are faulty, wrongly described, different from a sample shown to you or don’t do what they are supposed to do.'

If problems arise, kindly contact us as soon as practicable to discuss your concerns. We strive to provide a prompt, personalised and personal service at all times. A happy customer is our best recommendation.

E-MAIL POLICY
Like any commercial service provider with an on-line presence, we receive lots of e-mail from around the world. Like everyone else, we are besieged by junk e-mails ("spam") that are just a waste of time.

The fact that we are professional genealogical research service providers seems to attract unsolicited and often anonymous e-mails from those who assume we give out advice on family history research for free. This has led us to develop an e-mail policy.

We will not answer any e-mail that does not identify the writer by name and address. We will always give higher priority to responding to messages sent by potential/previous customers in our own geographic region (Australasia) or to individuals seeking research conducted "on-the-ground" in the United Kingdom (excluding Northern Ireland) or in Queensland, Australia. If you do not receive an answer within a week please re-send your e-mail (NB: All orders completed via our ultra-secure, Australian-based, electronic commerce website automatically receive a replies within minutes of being sent from a customer).

Some messages cannot be replied to simply because the sender's computer is not configured properly, causing our response to "bounce". Some users of our site evidently have the privacy settings of their Web browsers set to "maximum" and therefore are unable to see or fill out our online order forms. Check your Web browser's settings under "Internet Options" (then "Settings") on the "Tools" menu in Internet Explorer™ and reduce the privacy setting to "Medium" and then refresh your screen.
