Beenleigh and Districts Cemetery Inscriptions

Beenleigh, Redlands and Cleveland Districts Cemetery Monumental Inscriptions Index, on CD-ROM
Published by the Queensland Family History Society Incorporated, October 2006. ISBN 1 921171 11 1
Just $55.00 (incl. GST and certified Australia Post postage and handling to anywhere in Australia).

THIS resource consolidates into a single collection of PDF files all the monumental (headstone) inscriptions ("MIs") and plaques found in 10 public graveyards in the Beenleigh, Redland Bay and Cleveland districts, to the south, south-east and east of Brisbane, as transcribed, indexed and compiled for publication between 1995 and 2002 by Rosemary and Eric Kopittke.

This re-release on CD makes those resources much more accessible and allows searching of the text of the full publication using the free-to-download Acrobat Reader software by Adobe® - version 7.0 of which is to be found on this disk as well.

The material has been previously released in printed and/or microfiche form by the Queensland Family History Society Incorporated (QFHS) in eight separate publications. The 10 cemeteries covered are Alberton, Beenleigh, Bethania Lutheran, Cleveland, Eagleby, Mount Cotton (Cornubia), Mount Cotton (St Paul's Lutheran Church), Pimpama Island, Redland Bay (Serpentine Road) and Redland Bay (Gordon Road). Some are still active cemeteries - other closed many years ago.

As well as the inscriptions, the files include a map of the respective cemeteries showing the position of each headstone and an index to all names referred to on the inscriptions. Together, the entries refer to some 9,800 people and the file represents about 800 pages of inscriptions, maps and indexing, making it an excellent and indispensable resource for researching Greater Metropolitan Brisbane Region families, back to 1864.

As well as confirming or showing possible errors in the various burial registers, the MIs often show family relationships for three or four generations, including names of people not buried in the grave. Details can include parents, birthplace and date, marriage information, titles and honours. Neighbouring plots can include related families.

This CD is the first in the QFHS Cemeteries Monumental Inscriptions Series to be produced with files in the PDF format, and preceeded the disk containing MIs for Brisbane's Bulimba Cemetery (also available through the Garrison Communications Family History Research Services website at http://www.garrisonau.com/prod219.htm).
