THIS CD provides a consolidated index to all the notices in the Queensland Government Gazette for the years 1859 to 1919 (inclusive), apart from those which form part of other indices released by the Queensland Family History Society Incorporated (QFHS), for instance Intestacy, Insolvency and Wills (also available through Garrison Communications) and Members of School Committees (to be found in the Queensland Public Service Index, 1864-1948 on CD-ROM - also available through Garrison Communications). The entries to be found on this CD-ROM cover some 125,000 notices, with direct searching by name, topic, location and year with QFHSdatasearch. The Queensland Government Gazette contains a wealth of information on a wide range of topics, but finding information on particular individuals can be a daunting task. Each volume has an index to its notices, but previous to the availability of this resource, no consolidated index had been produced to make such information more accessible to researchers. This CD-ROM not only provides this, but also makes accessing and organising the information much easier by combining it with the searching and sorting capabilities of QFHSdatasearch. The index entries cover name, title, topic, location, volume, year and page(s) relating to the entry. The actual notice in the Gazette will provide additional information, the exact nature of which will depend on the topic. The actual entries give the full names of the person referred to and many of the trademark and patent notices refer to people residing in other Australian colonies/States, or even overseas. QFHSdatasearch is a generic interface designed to search genealogy databases and developed by QFHS. This version features field-orientated and keyword searches, Boolean selection, sorting, wildcard searches and links between search results and images in PDF files. Please note: This resource will not work on an Apple® Mac® system, although certain Windows® emulation software might prove successful.
